The police have confirmed the arrest of one of the suspected robbers involved in the mugging of a Belgian tourist on Sunday afternoon in Windhoek West.

The arrested suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Charles 'Charlo' Siririka.

He was arrested in Okongo Street in Wanaheda earlier today.

The police disseminated images of the suspects yesterday, following a video recording of them assaulting and robbing the tourist before fleeing in a taxi was shared widely on social media.

The tourist's laptop and cell phone were stolen.

According to Khomas police commander commissioner Ismael Basson, none of the goods were recovered.

The suspect, who is currently in custody, told the police the other suspects had fled to the central-north of the country.

The police investigation and search for the additional suspects continues.
